And Your Soul Needs Food To Be Strong.

God's Word is the only Spiritual Food that will nourish you.

Many people long to hear from God. They want to hear His voice. They pray, but don’t always hear Him speaking back.

Why? The reason is because the Bible is God’s voice to us, it is His WORD, his message to us. While sometimes He may speak to us during prayer, the Bible is the primary way He speaks back to us.

The Bible is unique among books, it is a Living Book, meaning every time you read it, the Holy Spirit will reveal something new to you, and nourish you in a different way, the exact way you need to be grown right then.

Prayer is spiritual breathing. So, if we don’t pray, we feel like we might suffocate, but remember that breathing does not nourish you like food, and prayer is not spiritual food.

If all you do is pray, you will become very spiritually weak. The Bible is the way God intends for you to be spiritually fed and grow. The Bible is the primary way He speaks back to us when we’ve prayed.

God’s Word is the source of all the wisdom you need to make good decisions and prosper.

Every Christian must be reading the Bible every single day, at least a chapter or two.

Reading a few verses here and there as part of a devotional does not help. Randomly opening the Bible and pointing to a place to read is not healthy either.

The best way to read the Bible is to start in either Genesis in the Old Testament, or the Book of Matthew or John in the New Testament and just read 1 – 2 chapters in order daily.

Those books are engaging and full of easy-to-follow stories, and you will learn a lot.

IMPORTANT: If something is hard to understand, don’t worry about it, don’t stop, just keep going. Your soul knows how to digest the Bible just like your stomach knows how to digest a meal without you giving it instructions.

Note: If you have read the Bible and it does not seem to impact or grow you, it means the Holy Spirit is not working in you. The Holy Spirit only indwells people who have submitted to the Lordship of Jesus Christ and asked Him to be their Savior.

If this sounds like you, we recommend going to God in prayer and asking to belong to Jesus in this way and for Him to give you His Holy Spirit so you can begin to experience the amazing work He does in those of us who know Him.

To get started, we recommend reading these books of the Bible in this order:

  • Gospel of Matthew
  • Genesis
  • Exodus
  • Gospel of Mark
  • Joshua
  • Judges
  • Gospel of Luke
  • 1 & 2 Samuel
  • 1 & 2 Kings
  • Gospel of John
  • Book of Acts
  • Romans
  • 1 & 2 Corinthians

Note: That order of books will have you going back and forth between the Old & New Testaments of the Bible. That is intentional as both are needed.

We also recommend adding to your daily reading a psalm from the Books of Psalms and/or some proverbs from the Books of Proverbs.
